Glass Weather

Sealed jars of moss and fern on a north-facing shelf, and the small weather inside them.

About this site

I keep closed terrariums and moss gardens in old jars on a north-facing shelf in a small flat: pickle jars, a sweet jar, two laboratory flasks and one ridiculous demijohn. Inside each one is a few handfuls of substrate, some moss from the garden wall, perhaps a fern, and a tiny weather system that fogs and clears on its own.

This site is where I write down what actually happens in them: the light readings, the one that rotted, the mould that came and went, which mosses took and which turned brown. There are no shortcuts here and no products to buy, just glass, water, patience and a notebook.
